Learning outside of the classroom engages and excites children in spectacular ways! Outdoor education not only enables kids to "learn by doing", but greatly impacts their perception of learning and leads to a healthier and happier child.
Throughout the year we'll embark on an adventure that incorporates the power of outdoor learning with indoor classroom experiences that enhance the study of the environment. Along with sharing knowledge and skills in Life Sciences, our curriculum teaches critical life skills such as problem solving, teamwork, and creativity. |

Introduction to Paddling Investigating the environment sometimes requires a little exploring in the water....and what better way than a little paddling? In addition to our study of the environment, we like to help kids become comfortable on the water with kayaks and standup paddle boards. Although many kids have paddled before, not all have received proper instruction on different types of strokes, entering and exiting the water, proper safety preparations, etc. For this reason, we start our environmental studies with an introduction, or review for some kids, of basic paddling.
Next session: Date: Location: Sanchez Park, Ormond Beach Time: Ages: 8 - 14 Cost: Minimum Group: |
Field Study - Horseshoe Crabs Joining one of our experts from the Florida Wildlife Commission (FWC), we'll make a trip down to Mosquito Lagoon in Edgewater. Students will learn the correct technique for measuring the crabs and recording data, examining shells and their markings, and discuss how the different sizes of crabs actually help tell their life story!! Next session: Date: Location: Time: Ages: 8 - 14 Cost: Minimum Group: 10 |
