2022 Summer STEM Camps:
Schedule Will Be Posted Soon
NOTE: All camps are now offered through our sister company, Modern Minds Learning in Ormond Beach. CLICK HERE
The goal: Boost your child's creativity, problems solving skills, teamwork, and technology knowledge in an engaging, collaborative way through fun and practical challenges!

Young Engineers Club

The Young Engineers Club incorporates the idea that building, tinkering, and creating are the underlying skills of understanding the world around us .... making sense of structures, electronics, bicycles, computers, everything! During club time kids use items as basic as craft sticks and straws, to complicated electronics such as Little Bits and Arduino. We create interesting, neat, and unique projects, and transform everyday objects into pianos and guitars!
In addition, we explore other coding tools, such as Scratch, Tynker, Lightbot, and Hopscotch. For our more advanced programmers, we delve into Python, which is their first foray into Middle School Computer Science courses.
All of our STEM clubs are focused on engaging the kids in fun and educational activities. Our core principles are folded into our clubs:
  • Collaboration - working together helps kids develop social skills and discover the importance of teamwork.
  • Problem solving - looking at issues from multiple angles, analyzing, and creating diverse solutions
  • Critical thinking - understanding how the concepts of robots and coding apply to the real world, grasping what the future holds for those who apply themselves!
  • Creativity - create solutions that are outside the box, being brave enough to take a risk.

Design Engineering
Students are taught to consider steps in a process as they design and build during Engineers Club;
  • ASK: What is the problem? How have others approached it? What are your constraints?
  • IMAGINE: What are some solutions? Brainstorm ideas. Choose the best one.
  • PLAN: Draw a diagram. Make lists of materials you will need.
  • CREATE: Follow your plan and create something. Test it out!
  • IMPROVE: What works? What doesn't? What could work better? Modify your design to make it better. Test it out!
Most importantly, they are encouraged to be flexible in their thinking, and NOT BE AFRAID to fail; some of the best designs come from several failures!
